Small Things

on

It’s been a while – too long – since I have posted a good old ‘Small Things’ post, in which I take a moment or two to reflect on and share some of the little things I’m thankful for. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that over the past few years, it has been the small things that have saved me on more than one occasion. Adult life is full of tasks to be completed, mistakes to be made and atoned for, money to be managed, time to be used and responsibilities to be borne. The small things enter this world of numbers and decisions like paper aeroplanes sent from the world of fresh air and whimsy. They remind us that there is more to life than the weight of responsibility, that even in adulthood there is room for things like play and flavour and slowness and laughing.

So this week, here are my small things:

*Sea air and sandcastles.

*Playing with the dog.

*Coffee, coffee and more coffee! I love making it on the Rayburn as well as drinking it by the sea at The Coffee Cabin, Appledore.

*Escaping to Norway through Freya Dowson’s beautiful photography, here.

*Getting ready for my sister’s wedding.

*Making fajitas and guacamole.

*Looking at tree houses on Pinterest (as you do).

What are your small things this week?
