Like living in a desert

Did you watch the news today? I caught half of a report on Syria. I saw empty streets, with deserted homes – a ghost town. Almost all the people were gone. A woman stayed because her son had died there. She said ‘I’ll stay here ’till I die, too’. A man said there is ‘no one to talk to’ and that it is ‘like living in a desert’.

It  feels really hard to get my head around the fact that I can be sat here with my glass of wine and a DVD while other people are far from their homes, maybe scared, maybe grieving, maybe separated from the people they love.

I’m praying for those people tonight, the ones around the world, who we call ‘displaced’. I pray that they will have a home again and be happy.
