I thought it was time for another ‘Small Things’ post – my occasional lists of bits and pieces that I’ve been enjoying over the week. So here it is – another list of ‘small things’:
To listen: Rizzle Kicks’ cover of Lana Del Rey’s Summertime Sadness in Radio 1’s Live Lounge. Unexpectedly good π It felt like I was listening to summer, and it wierdly reminded me of Paris – no idea why, though! You can hear it atΒ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwCudidBGZ4
To watch: I am really short of good TV to watch – any recommendations? I have been preparing a whole series of Sunday morning sessions on films and how they relate to Christianity for my youth group, though, so I’ve been watching loads of clips and snippets! Loved Amazing Grace which is about William Wilberforce’s campaign to end the slave trade in the UK. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was fun, too – it reminded me what a great author JK Rowling is to create all those brilliant characters.
To read: Other people’s blogs! I’m still really enjoying Nishantiishu.com and got this amusing link to a piece by Caitlin Moran from ‘A Cup of Jo’ (http://joannagoddard.blogspot.co.uk)Β : http://brouhahadreamer.tumblr.com/post/55349059350/my-posthumous-advice-for-my-daughter
To wear: Old clothes! I’m trying to avoid buying new clothes this Autumn (apart from maybe a coat!) to try to raise money for charity. I had a good sort out of my wardrobe and found this T shirt from last year, which I’d forgotten I had. I’m enjoying wearing it with metallic blue eyeliner and a loose fishtail plait. Apologies for the terrible selfie!!
And a few other things that have been making me happy:
Family. It was so lovely last weekend to have my parents and sister and her boyfriend over and wonder down to our local cafe in the morning… We then went to my cousin’s 21st which was fun, and this week it’s been back to my little family of Andrew and Jamie the dog π
Mum and Sis
How cute is this snap of Andrew and Jamie?!
Autumn. Although I’m really a summer girl at heart (and definitely NOT a winter person) I do love Autumn and am enjoying the subtle change September has brought – the fresh air, the apples in the trees, my first hot chocolate of the season, and today I walked past a bonfire which smelt amazing! It has been the mornings and evenings I’ve noticed the new season the most, and here’s a sunset snap from earlier this evening:
I hope that all of you readers have found some things to make you happy this week too!
Loving the film+youth group mix. There is a course using Harry Potter (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mixing-Up-Harry-Potter-Sessions/dp/0715141066/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378584133&sr=8-1&keywords=mixing+it+up+with+harry+potter) I have used the simpsons one which was really good! Also Urban Saints do an online film youth group resource π
Thanks Steve, will check those out π
